Packed size, chargeable weight and postcode choose the base line. Cargo category, single-piece limits, residential access, remote delivery, inspections and special handling can still change the final written amount.
01
Separate a measured change from a new service
A larger final crate changes CBM. Higher gross weight can change chargeable weight. These are changes to the calculation basis, not automatically a separate surcharge. A special handling or delivery requirement is different: it needs its own quoted scope.

A sofa example: one question changes another
Removing the legs may reduce packed height, but only if the supplier confirms safe disassembly and packing. A crate may improve protection while increasing volume or making the piece harder to unload. Ask for the final outer dimensions and gross weight of that exact packing choice, not a generic percentage saving.

What a useful written comparison looks like
This historical US doors-and-windows quotation shows a written project scope. Private details and prices are redacted; it is not a current rate sheet. Its charges and customs treatment do not transfer to your cargo and must not be added to your DDP estimate.
The same packing-list version and chargeable-weight basis.
The same destination point and delivery responsibility.
Named included services and named exclusions.
Each single-enquiry item marked confirmed, provisional or still unresolved.
Quote validity, payment terms and the next measurement or document needed.

A historical project quotation, not a current rate card or a test of calculator accuracy. Its fee categories explain the agreed scope. Do not add its import-tax category again to a DDP base estimate; your shipment's inclusions and additions need separate written confirmation.

Send your planning sheet and the unresolved items through Foshan Cargo. The same team behind Buildcargo Logistics checks the actual cargo and confirms the written scope; you do not need to open another website to start a second enquiry. Surcharges stay single enquiry until confirmed—there is no promised saving or automatic all-in total.
Send a product link and destination. We’ll check suitability, identify missing facts and list the charges that need review before a written quote. Inspect your WhatsApp draft before sending.
