You can plan before choosing a sofa, bed frame or dining table: select a sourced furniture example and use its complete reference package set for an early shipping budget. Once you choose the real product, ask its supplier for every package's outer dimensions, count and gross weight. Reference data is not confirmation of your packing, access or route.
01
Start with one chosen item, not an invented roomful
The home-page planner uses room length, width and optional height to filter reference dimensions. You choose each item and quantity. Bed-frame references exclude mattresses and slats; dining-table references exclude chairs. Extra export crates, pallets and reinforcement are not included. Flat-pack IKEA examples do not describe how another supplier packs an assembled or stone product.
02
Ask for the furniture in shipping form
For a sofa, confirm whether legs, arms or modules are packed separately. For a dining set, separate the tabletop, base and chairs. A showroom dimension describes the finished item; a freight estimate needs every outer carton or crate and the quantity of each package type.
03
Copy this request to your supplier
Please send the package count, outer length × width × height and gross weight of each package for my exact order. Please say whether these are estimated or final measurements, whether wooden protection is included, and which parts require reassembly.
04
Calculate the whole package set
Illustrative example: one carton measuring 200 × 90 × 80 cm occupies 1.440 m³. A separate legs or accessory carton must be added, not assumed to fit inside. These are example dimensions, not packing advice for a specific sofa.
05
The last doorway matters too
Check the longest packed piece against the delivery access: truck stopping point, door, lift and stair turns. A door-delivery quote does not automatically include carrying furniture inside, upstairs or assembly. Establish who opens the crate and who removes the packaging.
06
Relevant operating evidence
Buildcargo's completed US outdoor-furniture record connects warehouse status, cargo-condition evidence, loading updates and a signed destination receipt. It documents that shipment, not the likely price or protection performance of yours.
